PLACEMENT SELECTION

THE PLACEMENT PROCESS

One of the biggest challenges that applicants face during the application process is deciding where to live in China. This decision can be a very difficult one especially when applicants will be expected to live in that area for the duration of their placement. To assist our applicants in this process we devised the placement preference form. Our placement preference form includes a selection of criteria that we can use to give each applicant the best possible experience in China.

The selection criteria take into account a number of different factors that our applicants may look for and help reduce some of the stress applicants may feel during the selection process. The factors are not just limited to a geographical location but also factors such as work hours and proximity to other teachers. Applicants should be aware that depending on the factors that they select their average monthly income is likely to change. For example, an applicant that requests to work in a larger city with office hours and a stricter school curriculum is likely to earn more than an applicant that requests a rural placement with less working hours. We believe that this system gives each of our applicants the most flexibility.

THE SELECTION CRITERIA

REGION SELECTION

Select from a province or just a general area in China i.e. North East, South China.

WORKING HOURS

Pick between a relaxed job with little hours to a more strict environment with office hours.

SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Pick between a school has a standardised school curriculum to one that is free for the teacher to adjust to their preferences.

AGE DEMOGRAPHIC

Applicants have the possibility of teaching students from Primary schools, Middle schools, High schools, or Universities based on their preferences.

WEATHER

Applicants may have a preferred climate in-mind from Beijing which has four very distinctive seasons to Guangdong where it's warm most of the year.

PROXIMITY TO OTHER TEACHERS

Applicants may choose to be near or with other teachers on the programme. Alternatively, they may prefer to live in an isolated environment to get the most from the experience.

TYPE OF CITY

Applicants have the choice of selecting between a more traditional city or a modern city.

SPECIFIC LOCATION

Applicants may already have a specific city in mind and may be set on going to that city. If that is the case we can do the best we can to make sure the applicant gets that specific city.

THE REGIONS

Both the most difficult and most fun part of our application process involves having our applicants select a placement from any one of the 19 regions that we have available across China (Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Guizhou, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hebei, Hunan, Zhejiang, Anhui, Sichuan, Henan, Shandong, Jilin, Hainan, Hubei, Tianjin, Shanxi, Yunnan). Our placement form gives each of our applicants the chance to select which region would be best for them based on some criteria.
