ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Teaching in China has a simple yet effective goal to promote the cultural exchange between China and native speaking English countries through a paid teaching programme. The programme begins in August of each year run in partnership with the not-for-profit organisation China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). We offer full-time and part-time placements across 19 diverse regions in China. No matter if you are looking to really immerse yourself in an exclusively Chinese environment or you would prefer to live in one China’s bustling international mega metropolises we have placements available for you.
The year programme is the perfect next step for final year students and recent graduates that are looking to broaden their horizons and gain valuable overseas teaching experience. For this programme, we have verified placement schools in more than 19 regions across China. Applications to this programme are limited and therefore we operate a first-come-first-serve policy. You can fill in an application on the Apply page.
NO TEACHING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
We have specifically designed our programme for applicants that have no previous teaching experience. Our applicants will receive access to a free 120-hour TEFL course that will teach applicants about the theory of teaching and get them legally qualified to teach in China. Applicants will also attend an all expenses paid two-week intensive Beijing summer camp in August. The camp will help our applicants put their TEFL theory into practice with real-world classroom experience.
To better satisfy the needs of our applicants we offer two different placement types. Applicants may choose between their preferred placement type when completing the preference form during the visa application process.
Each applicant is guaranteed a monthly salary from £700 to £1800 plus bonuses. The purchasing power in China is 2-3x that of the UK meaning that your money can go much further.
Placement schools on the standard option provide free accommodation on-site/nearby to the placement school or an accommodation stipend. In most cases, utility bills will also be covered (to a fair limit).
PAID WINTER HOLIDAY*
Applicants receive a generous holiday allowance including 4 weeks paid holiday during the Chinese new year. Applicants may use this time to travel to neighbouring Asian countries.
Each applicant will receive flight reimbursement from their placement school on the completion of their contract (valid for an inbound and outbound flight).
BEIJING SUMMER CAMP
Included in the programme is a 2-week intensive Beijing summer camp. The summer camp is there to develop our applicants teaching abilities. All food and accommodation during the camp is covered.
120-HOUR TEFL COURSE
Applicants will be provided with a FREE 120-hour TEFL course (60-hours online & 60-hours at the Beijing summer camp). The TEFL 120-hour course is a mandatory legal requirement for anybody wishing to teach in China.
Each applicant receives full support along the way through the visa process from information on how to complete a medical to submitting a completed visa application at the Chinese embassy.
Applicants can select their preferred criteria for their placement i.e. location, size, age, working hours. We will do our best to match our applicant's criteria when possible.
Applicants navigate the visa process and TEFL summer camp together meaning nobody is left alone. Applicants can choose to be placed with each other during the process.
Moving to China is a big step and can bring about stress which is why we ensure each applicant will have somebody to greet them when they land in China.
All of our applicants will get access to our online teaching resource library full of lesson plans and teaching resources to help our teachers with their lesson planning.
GOV APPROVED SCHOOL
All of the schools in our programme have been hand-selected by the not-for-profit Chinese government agency CEAIE to ensure each school is up to standard for our applicants.
